Windows 10 is Still the Main Issue

Windows 10 Operating System Bringing More Headaches to Users, RESCUECOM Report Shows

By yahoo.com on February 8, 2016 8:45 AM

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Feb. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- RESCUECOM, the industry leader in computer repair, has gathered all the data for the 2016 Computer Repair Report and found that Windows 10 problems are on the rise rather than decreasing.

While many people might have expected that the high volume of tech support calls for Windows 10 issues to have diminished after the extremely high numbers in the last report, they have instead increased. Look to see this problem lessen as people become acclimated to the new O.S.

RESCUECOM constructs the Computer Repair Report by collecting information on every problem for which customers called us for help at , and the total number of times we received calls for each particular issue. We then gather this information, categorizing and ranking each specific problem in order from most to least problematic.

The main issues in the 2016 Computer Repair Report are as follows:

RankProblemPercentage%
1Windows App and Windows O.S. Trouble61.5%
2Poor Computer Performance / Slow PC9.5%
3Printer Issues6.2%
4Viruses / Spyware / Malware / Pop-Ups6.0%
5Hardware Trouble5.7%
6Email Trouble4.9%
7Internet / Network / Wi-Fi Connection2.6%
8Data Recovery / Movement1.2%
9Mac App Difficulty1.2%
10Failure to Boot / Blue or Blank Screen0.7%
11User-Caused Problems0.4%
12Phone Issues0.14%
13TV Trouble 0.14%

This information shows a shift from previous reports, particularly given the high placement that issues with viruses and spyware have held every quarter before this report. Currently, the three main concerns are problems with the Windows O.S. and Windows apps, poor computer performance, and, in a surprising leap, trouble with printers.

The decline in calls for help with virus, spyware, and malware infections displays that users are becoming more proactive in utilizing virus removal software like the RESCUECOM Internet Security Suite, though increases in sluggish computer performance could be problems with failures to keep software, operating systems, and apps up to date.

Hardware trouble such as that you may face with a malfunctioning printer can be extremely difficult to repair, often calling for the services of an expert like one of our RESCUECOM Certified Level-3 technicians. Problems you may face with a printer include external damage to things like cables, power sources, and other parts that may require a professional to fix and, in some cases, replace completely.

It is also important to keep in mind how sensitive tech devices are. Keeping food and drink to close to your computer or mobile device can cause major trouble, and having a case for your smartphone or tablet is always a good idea to avoid accidental damage.

It is impossible to prevent every conceivable problem, but taking measures such as using the “Automatic Updates” feature on your computer, being aware of and preventing Internet security threats, keeping passwords safe, and avoiding physical damage to tech devices will allow you to keep your PCs and mobile devices from requiring expensive computer repair.

Discover all the potential issues you may face and how to avoid them by reading the full 2016 Computer Repair Report!

...A hacker with the alias "DEATHRIDGE" entered a company Teams meeting via someone invited as a guest, and started taking control of my computer and my life. They sent emails pretending to be me that really looked like they were coming from me. They tried to take control of our corporate bank accounts, added themselves as a user to my Microsoft account, and locked me out of my computer as my passwords no longer worked. My ability to run a telecom company ground to a halt, and all my company and personal information was at their fingertips. I felt so helpless, and I needed folks smarter than the hacker(s) to do battle for me. Our typical computer pros couldn't handle it, and neither could other "experts" I called. Lucky for me I called RESCUECOM, and they immediately got to work. They didn't complain though I was asking for help in the middle of the night, but immediately got to work and worked non-stop to restore everything and protect me going forward. The team at RESCUECOM are my knights in shining armor, and they're the absolute best! less
