Like A Bounty Hunter For The Tech Sector, Paul Seed Runs StarTech.com!

With technology in a constant state of development, it is very easy to find yourself in possession of equipment that is no longer state-of-the-art.  In fact, prior to the development of USB standards, there was a remarkably short amount of time between when all sorts of technologies and interfaces went from being state-of-the-art to obsolete.  Within the consumer electronics market, there is a significant population of people who cannot afford every upgrade or simply does not want to change their hardware simply because manufacturers have created something new.  Catering to that market is StarTech.com and Paul Seed.

Paul Seed is the co-Founder of StarTech.com.  Currently serving as President and CEO of StarTech.com, Paul Seed manages a company that maintains one of the most extensive inventories of out-of-date computer components, connectors and adapters, as well as up-to-date technology.  StarTech.com prides itself on having or being able to find any component needed to make any existing technology work.  They also have a knowledgeable staff that often knows how to bridge obsolete technologies with the current generation of computer equipment!

Something of an aimless executive, Paul Seed fell into the tech sector almost by accident.  Seed had a long-term goal of becoming a businessman, but he did not have a specific industry he was interested in.  As a result, he attended the University of Western Ontario, where he worked toward an Economics degree.  While studying, he and his friend Ken Kalopis attempted to start a viable business.  Together, Seed and Kalopis started a movie delivery service, coin-operated computer scheme and computer set-up business.  Of their many attempts to start a business together, the only service that made them enough money to continue with was a video game rental enterprise!

Seed had a big break when he and Kalopis moved to London and saw a niche market they could fill: manufacturing and selling dust covers for computers.  While his first attempts at sewing went disastrously, Paul Seed created StarTech.com to distribute the dust covers he designed.  Responding to customer requests, Seed quickly expanded the operation to connectors and other peripherals and accessories.  Even as CEO of StarTech.com, Seed’s role is essentially the same now: he hunts for technologies to add to the site’s inventory and promotes StarTech.com.  What started as a tiny two-person operation has grown into an operation that employs one hundred sixty people.

Paul Seed has achieved a level of success with StarTech.com that has left him wanting very little.  In fact, in 2011, Seed used StarTech.com to raise $80,000 for various charities, most notably the United Way, of which Paul Seed is a big supporter.  He may have started out with a directionless vision, but now at the head of StarTech.com, Paul Seed is a successful entrepreneur who helps individuals and companies connect all forms of electronic and computer devices!
