When You Are Facing The U.S. Government, It Helps To Have A Lawyer Like Mary E. Snapp!

A few years back, Microsoft had some legal troubles.  The U.S. government decided to aggressively pursue the Microsoft Corporation for antitrust violations.  This resulted in a restructuring of much of the way Microsoft does business and as Microsoft progresses past that dark chapter in its corporate history, it is once more growing steadily.  The results of the government probes and prosecution would have been much worse, had it not been for Mary E. Snapp.

Mary E. Snapp is the Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel in the Law and Corporate Affairs branch of Microsoft.  She specializes in providing legal advice for the Products and Services Division of Microsoft.  As Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of the vital Products and Services division, Snapp oversees 150 lawyers working to protect Microsoft’s legal claims for some of the most widely-used Microsoft products.

Microsoft got quite a deal when Mary E. Snapp came to work for the company.  As a Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Kansas and a former editor of the University Of Michigan School Of Law’s Journal of International Law, Snapp had an impressive education.  With an additional master’s degree from Wayne State University, this master’s in Business Administration, Snapp had a formidable combination of both business and law knowledge.  Mary E. Snapp joined Microsoft after a stint at K&L Gates, a law firm based in Seattle.

When Mary E. Snapp joined Microsoft in 1988, she was hired as an attorney for their massive legal department.  Snapp quickly distinguished herself with her knowledge of business law and her ability to protect some of Microsoft’s most valuable licenses.

When not ensuring that Microsoft’s products are legally protected in the international marketplace, Mary E. Snapp is committed to social betterment.  She is active in many charities and social organizations designed to promote social equality.  Diversity issues are especially important to Snapp and she leads the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.  In that position, Snapp works to promote diversity in the workplace, which is a Herculean feat in the male-dominated technology sector!

As Microsoft develops new technologies, for all sorts of computing and communication devices like tablet computers and smartphones, Mary E. Snapp is working to protect consumer privacy while safeguarding Microsoft’s corporate standing.  With so many successes in her portfolio and such a progressive philosophy toward corporate law and corporate responsibility, Mary E.
