Giving Voice To Computer Devices, Nigel Quinnin Is Very Cool!

When the Apple iPhone 4S was released, there was much ado made over Siri, the talking virtual butler program that was integrated into the new iPhone.  Siri receives input through verbal commands and inquiries and responds in a pleasant, feminine voice.  While Apple has been lauded for the technology (and criticized for its flaws), it is not the only company diligently working on voice recognition and vocal delivery software.  In fact, compared to LumenVox – a company working in the vocal engine software industry for over a decade – Apple is a relative newcomer!  Currently pushing the envelope of all that LumenVox creates is Nigel Quinnin.

Nigel Quinnin is the Chief Information Officer of LumenVox, a speech technology company that has been working for years with companies like Verizon, British Telecom, Kmart, and Toyota, in addition to many government agencies around the world.  The international clientele of LumenVox is ideal for Quinnin, who is a world-traveller and has enthusiastically visited twenty-six countries.  In his role as Chief Information Officer, Nigel Quinnin is responsible for running the LumenVox software development team.  In addition to developing and refining new products, Quinnin is tasked with programming the unique specifications for the needs of each of the enterprise customers.

Even as a young adult, Quinnin was fascinated by technology and travel.  He attended the University of Newcastle in England.  There, Nigel Quinnin studied Electrical Engineering.  His aptitude for electrical engineering led Quinnin to Sweden, where he was offered the position of Chief Technical Officer for Limt AB.  In his role as CTO, Nigel Quinnin led a team of 200 in creating the framework for high definition television distribution throughout Sweden!  After executing that herculean task, Nigel Quinnin went to work for Qubit Technology.

After a two-year stint as Qubit Technology’s Chief Technical Officer, Nigel Quinnin joined the team at Litel Instruments as their Director of Software Operations.  Over the course of the almost four years Quinnin spent directing the software department at Litel Instruments, he became intimately knowledgeable in the interactions between hardware and software.  Quinnin became especially interested in finding innovative software solutions to hardware limitations.  It was the combination of Nigel Quinnin’s creativity at problem solving and real-world software and electrical engineering experience that made him such an attractive hire to LumenVox.  So, in June of 2008, Nigel Quinnin joined LumenVox as the company’s Chief Information Officer.

Competing with Apple can be a daunting task for any company.  But as LumenVox continues to produce products and services that rival the technology that created Siri, the company has reason to feel confident: LumenVox has Nigel Quinnin!
