Connecting advertisers and potential customers through all of the digital devices the average person has today is a daunting task. Mukul Kumar is the Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Engineering at PubMatic. In the role of Senior Vice President of Engineering, Kumar continually develops and refines software that allows ad publishers to work in a cross-format platform to maximize the exposure of their advertisements. A fan of the number pi, Mukul Kumar has filed fourteen patents for software he developed and as operations at PubMatic continue, he shows no signs of slowing down.
After graduating in 1989 from the Campion School in Bhopal with a primary education that focused on physics, mathematics, and chemistry, Mukul Kumar attended the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. There, Kumar immersed himself in electrical engineering. He graduated IIT in 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering before joining Wipro as a developer. Kumar’s stint at Wipro lasted only a year, as the information technology and computer manufacturing company NCR hired him away as a developer!
Mukul Kumar served as a developer at NCR until the company was bought out in 1997. Then, he joined VERITAS as a Senior Manager. His eight years of service at VERITAS gave him the experience that the small computer hardware company Panta Systems needed and in November of 2005, he joined Panta Systems. As the Director of Engineering, Mukul Kumar gained more management experience and learned how to effectively balance managing people with completing the engineering goals of Panta Systems. After one year and a month, Mukul Kumar felt it was time to develop his own programming and company. As a Co-Founder of PubMatic, Kumar began writing software that would change the way that advertisements were viewed over various platforms.
Given the way technology continues to develop, Mukul Kumar will continue to be busy with PubMatic, and its mission to connect advertisers across all computing devices, for quite some time!
