A Company Man Who Is Not Afraid To Reinvent The Company, Mark Reynoso Runs Belkin!

It is a rare thing for a company to have a loyal worker who has risen through the ranks of the established corporate structure only to redefine the company when they get to the top.  Far more often, those who start low on the corporate ladder and work their way up become concerned with preserving the corporate identity of the organization of which they have been a part.  But more often than not in the rapidly changing tech sector, survival in business requires flexibility.  The companies in the technology industry that cling to rigidly to a set corporate structure, product line or idea often find themselves hemorrhaging capital when the market changes abruptly.  Belkin was in danger of suffering that type of horrible corporate downturn when Mark Reynoso turned the company around!

Mark Reynoso is the CEO of Belkin International.  The Board of Belkin promoted Reynoso to the position of Chief Executive Officer when news broke of a possible scandal at Belkin.  That scandal involved product reviews solicited by Belkin, some of which may have used hardware altered (improved) by engineers to fix known issues with products.  Reynoso was not a stranger to Belkin, however, and he weathered the first big storm as CEO by working closely with the company’s public relations department.  Reynoso became a clear voice from the top of the company who could speak authoritatively while the matter was investigated.

That Mark Reynoso could be counted on to manage such a difficult time for Belkin is no surprise.  A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Law and Society, Reynoso is an accomplished manager and one of the executives that knows Belkin best.  Mark Reynoso joined Belkin in 1996, where he served as a product manager.  In that capacity, Reynoso oversaw the production and distribution of product lines that totaled 70% of Belkin’s revenue.  As Belkin International sought to expand their influence in Europe in the late 1990s, Reynoso was promoted to General Manager in Europe.  After four years of record-breaking sales growth in Europe, Reynoso returned to the United States as the Vice President of Sales, first for Belkin Components, then for Belkin International.

When he was promoted to CEO of Belkin International in 2009, Mark Reynoso discovered a burgeoning problem for the company.  Belkin’s primary enterprise was in cables and surge protectors, with a growing market in wireless routers.  Unfortunately, both companies and retailers began producing products that directly competed with Belkin’s products.  Mark Reynoso illustrated his true leadership abilities by changing Belkin’s corporate structure.  Reynoso appealed to the entrepreneurs working at Belkin and freed them from their prior job titles and job constraints.  Mark Reynoso saw that the solution to the problem of greater competition to Belkin’s traditional product lines was to completely diversify the company.  To do that, Reynoso gave the workers who had the most potential and interest in inventing the opportunity to make their jobs about redefining the Belkin product lines!

With his strong leadership skills and his willingness to think outside the box, Mark Reynoso is an ideal CEO for Belkin!
