Matchbook Helps You Keep Track of Your Favorite Places

Many people have experienced the phenomenon where you want to go back to a restaurant, hotel, or park, but you can’t quite remember the name of the place, making it impossible to look up online.  Matchbook is a cool product that makes sure this never happens to you again.  Through your smartphone’s GPS technology, Matchbook lets you tag the places you’ve been and the places you want to go.  With Matchbook, when you’re trying to remember where you went for Italian food that one night in January, all you have to do is whip out your smartphone and Matchbook will remind you.  You can tag locations with dates, time, and key words to look up later.  This could save many people frustrating nights of being unable to find the place they want to go because of unclear memories.  If you have trouble downloading Matchbook or getting your phone’s GPS to work properly, find smartphone tech support and get help.

According to the company website, the company derived the name of the app from the old tradition of restaurants and bars giving out matchbooks to patrons.  Restaurants often uniquely designed and branded these matchbooks to remind customers of who they were and where they were.  These matchbooks often acted as little reminders for customers to return or as an easy way to recommend somewhere to a friend by simply handing off the matchbook to them.  You don’t see this tradition employed often these days, but Matchbook aims to recreate the experience digitally.  By letting users tag the places they’ve been to or want to go, the team at Matchbook believes it will let people recreate the effect of carrying around those old matchbooks as reminders.

Users can also tag photos to places that they’ve been on Matchbook, which allows them to remember how a place looked and what events took place there.  For example, if you’re looking up the place your mother’s last birthday party took place, you can simply search for “Mom’s party” as a tag and not only will you get the location, but also a slew of pictures to remind you of the place and how the party went.

Matchbook is currently only available on the iPhone platform.  If you have any trouble using it, contacting Apple support is the best choice.
