Strengthening Voxx International Through Acquisitions: Patrick M. Lavelle Is A Shrewd CEO!

The diverse and specialized markets within the technology sector change with alarming frequency.  With the demands that come with operating within quickly-changing field, it is almost surprising just how many strategies there are for a business to survive.  While some tech sector businesses invest heavily in research and development in order to survive the erratic fluctuations of the market, others make frequent incremental updates to their product line to continue to inspire consumers to spend.  Voxx International has managed to survive the turbulent technology market by buying its competitors.  That is a strategy developed by Patrick M. Lavelle.

Patrick M. Lavelle is the President and CEO of Voxx International.  Voxx International, which was formerly the Audiovox Electronics Corporation, is a manufacturer of quality speakers, headphones and microphones for home and computer use.  Lavelle was elected President of the Board and CEO in 2005 and has served in that role without interruption since.  During these turbulent economic times, Patrick M. Lavelle has helped Voxx International grow considerably.

After graduating from Marist College in New York, Patrick M. Lavelle entered the workforce.  In 1977, Lavelle took a job as an audio salesman for Audiovox.  Truly starting at the bottom of the corporate ladder, Patrick M. Lavelle so distinguished himself as a salesman and in subsequent minor management and supervisory roles that by 1980, the Board appointed him to the position of Vice President of Accessory Products.  In his first senior management position, he served with the same enthusiasm and competence that when a position finally opened up on the Voxx International board that was more than just a lateral move, the general consensus at Voxx was the promotion was long overdue.  That promotion came in 1991 and he was put in charge of the mobile and consumer electronics divisions of Voxx International as a Senior Vice President.

As Audiovox restructured into Voxx International, Patrick M. Lavelle saw further opportunities to leave his mark and illustrate his leadership potential.  When he was promoted in 2005 to CEO and President, Lavelle began an aggressive series of acquisitions.  In a few short years, Voxx International bought RCA, Jensen, Mac Audio, Acoustic Research and several other companies to strengthen Voxx’s market position.  By buying up so many competing audio equipment companies, Lavelle saved Voxx millions on research and development and was able to push exciting new audio products to market faster than any one company could have before!

With his impressive record of success at consolidating the audio equipment market, Patrick M. Lavelle has proven he is the best possible manager for Voxx International!
