Leaving Big Tech For Metal, Brenda Grissom Is Fascinating!

There are so many workers who strive to get their foot in the door with one of the big tech companies, so it can be surprising to hear about all of the people who leave the giants of the tech sector to work for smaller companies.  After years of working for companies with more than ten thousand employees, though, it can be nice to go work for a smaller company.  Often executives who do are given greater responsibility and flexibility and that may lead them to a greater sense of satisfaction than they had at the bigger company.  With more than a decade working for IBM and Lenovo, Brenda Grissom is now finding satisfaction and stimulation at Grissom Sheet Metal!

Brenda Grissom is currently the Manager of Operations of Grissom Sheet Metal, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based metal fabrication company.  Brenda Grissom has held the role of Manager of Operations for three years and she has efficiently developed bid proposals, managed accounts and scheduled the many jobs that Grissom Sheet Metal has taken on.  Her organization and efficiency has made Brenda Grissom an undeniable asset to the small company.

That Brenda Grissom would be such an efficient manager of a private company is no surprise given her training and experience.  Grissom was formally educated in North Carolina, where she attended North Carolina State University.  There, she studied mechanical engineering and was the Vice President of the Student Union.  Grissom graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, though she specialized in marketing, accounting, and business law.  Barbara Grissom’s interest in the business end of the tech sector was evident when she attended North Carolina Wesleyan University.  She studied Marketing and Business Management and earned her B.A. in that.

With her degrees in business and engineering, Brenda Grissom was a natural choice for a tech company to hire.  IBM hired Brenda Grissom in 1998 as an Executive Relations Manager.  For over two years, she directed a team that resolved customer service issues at the highest level.  Grissom and her team helped pioneer new standards for IBM and managed to get the company ISO 9000 certification on the first attempt!  To reward her, IBM promoted Brenda Grissom to Marketing Operations Manager for the Americas (North and South).  For over five years, Brenda Grissom ran the company’s highly-successful “Sweet Spot Program” that prioritized IBM’s manufacturing operations based on the greatest product demand.  In 2005, Brenda Grissom made the transition to Lenovo International, where she was the Worldwide Channel Enablement Manager.  In that role, Grissom guided Lenovo with an Early Adoption Program that drastically cut down turnaround time on products that showed the most potential and increased the sales of Lenovo PCs in the worldwide market.

After years helping strengthen and grow bigger companies, Brenda Grissom is applying her extensive talents to Grissom Sheet Metal and no doubt she will help it grow as well!
