David Yoo Is Putting Boku On The Financial Map!

There are a number of emerging online and mobile phone payment companies. No longer is the whole of the Internet beholden to PayPal for fast, secure, on-line payments. In addition to emerging mobile phone payment companies Square and Dwolla, there is Boku. If you haven’t heard of Boku, yet, that is not a surprise; it is still fairly new. But David Yoo is determined to make Boku a household name!

David Yoo is the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Product and Marketing for Boku. In that role, David Yoo is raising brand recognition and spending a great deal of time informing potential customers about the services that Boku offers. As Boku breaks into the rapidly expanding online and mobile payment market, it is David Yoo’s job to help Boku rise above the pack. So far, Yoo’s efforts have helped to net more investment from Silicon Valley investors and the launch of a multimedia advertising campaign.

It is ultimately not surprising that Boku would pin so much responsibility on David Yoo. David Yoo has had extensive experience in the tech sector and is something of an expert on online payment companies. As Principle Product Manager for PayPal, David Yoo learned quickly the value of consumer confidence, as well as the basic mechanics, in the online payment industry. From there, Yoo went to Tellme, where he served as the head of the Strategy and Product Marketing division. Yoo’s strategic mind paid big dividends for the company when David Yoo made Tellme an attractive buy to Microsoft!

AT&T Interactive provided David Yoo with even more experience with the Internet and mobile financing. Continuing his streak of successes with strategy and development, Yoo served AT&T Interactive as a Senior Vice President and the Chief Product Officer. As CPO, Yoo used his knack for development to steer AT&T’s Research and Development Division to create and release more engaging mobile applications. By the end of his tenure, AT&T Interactive had 52 million unique visitors a month! In a similar fashion, David Yoo retasked the advertising department. Through his initiatives, AT&T Interactive began to take in $230 million a quarter in local advertising revenue!

David Yoo’s efforts are still too new at Boku to have all paid off yet, but when Boku’s mobile payment service came out of Beta testing in 2011, Yoo was actively involved in presenting Boku to the world. With his hands on approach and strong record of success, it is hard to imagine that with David Yoo in charge of strategy, product and marketing, Boku will have anything other than overwhelming success!
