Hailo Lets You Hail a Cab All Over the World

While ridesharing apps like Uber and Lyft have gained significant momentum, the most common way for most people to get a ride in a major city is still an old-fashioned yellow cab.   There is still a way to use technology to make it easier for people to find a ride even when they want to take a taxi.  Cool product Hailo is a mobile device that allows users to hail cabs with their smartphones or tablets.  Rather than calling a taxi company and potentially ending up on hold for a long time, people can just open up their phones and tap away to call a ride right away with Hailo.  This cool product wants to erase the uncertainty of trying to find a cab on the street.   The app lets people call cabs specifically for them, rather than hope to catch taxis that are simply passing by the area.  Hailo wants to revolutionize the urban transportation industry in order to get people service in an on demand capacity just as many other industries, such as remote computer support, have in recent years.

Hailo isn’t yet available everywhere, but it is available in many major cities all over the world.  The app establishes an international base by having a presence in cities like New York, London, Dublin, Montreal, Chicago, Barcelona, Tokyo, and Madrid.  Hailo wants to change taxi services all over the globe with its app, not just in one small area.  It’s a major ambition, but it wouldn’t be the first time a small tech startup changed an entire industry for the better.

As of right now, Hailo has made itself available on both Android and Apple mobile products.  With a presence on both major mobile marketplaces, most smartphone owners will have access to the app.  There is no current word available on whether Hailo will also become available for Windows Phone OS.  For now, Android and Apple users can contact smartphone tech support if they have any trouble downloading the application.

Many people have mused that the taxi industry is in trouble thanks to the convenience of apps like Uber and Lyft.  However, an app like Hailo has the potential to make getting a licensed cab just as easily as it is to get help from a ridesharing service.  This cool product could help the taxi industry compete as technology moves forward.
