Smartphone Users: Beware the Fraud

Fraud is not new to humanity.  Impostors and counterfeiters are as old as the idea of property.  The only new developments occur in the scams we see and the venues where they are attempted.  The birth of the World Wide Web created a digital world loaded with sensitive information where clever con artists could ply their trade.  Today, Internet security is paramount to protecting financial information from theft by nefarious individuals.  Everyone needs to consider seeking computer support to ensure effective Internet security.

Internet security as a way to identify and prevent fraud, started simply.  Over time, increased Internet security and the computer support it requires have become more and more a priority for people doing business on the Internet.  As Internet security becomes more sophisticated, so do the methods used to steal information.  Internet security, cybercrime, and the constant computer support needed to help in this conflict represent a daily battleground.  Personal users, out of concern and genuine fear, need the help of expert computer support, and they need continuous education in effective ways to maintain their own Internet security.  As an example, banks and private companies have begun offering identity protection to consumers worried about the safety of their transactions.

The most current and troubling threat to Internet security is the growing number of mobile web users.  Smartphones and tablets alter the digital landscape once again, and wireless options and expanded coverage are right alongside them.  Knowledgeable computer support is all the more important as threats to the Internet security of mobile users multiply due to the lack of anti-virus software on many devices.

Improving Internet security against mobile fraud continues as a top priority for commercial entities and the computer support personnel they employ.  Simple prevention is still the best solution to reduce the possibility of a cybercrime affecting you, and effective, reliable computer support is the key to peace of mind.  Take the time to install protective software on that smartphone.  Do your shopping while on the go, but wait until you get home to make that purchase.  The Internet security of your home machine is probably far superior to your mobile device.  A little education and proactive computer support can help prevent the huge hassles caused by a breach in your internet security.

Technology Addiction

The amount of technology used in our daily lives continues expanding at record rates.  One alarming recent study found that 38% of college students polled could not make it ten minutes without checking an electronic device.  Tablets, smartphones, and a wide range of gadgets allow people to stay connected to their digital lives even while on the move.  Many workers utilize the mobile abilities of their computer as part of the job.  The need for reliable computer repair to keep all these processes functioning well is shown daily.  Additionally, excellent computer support is needed to fully take advantage of all of the new applications on the market.

College students are strong users of developing technology.  Today’s digital world almost completely envelops campuses.  Three quarters of those surveyed said they could not even study without their technology.  Obtaining effective computer support or computer repair to maintain devices is vital for today’s student.  Computer support and computer repair providers help students effectively integrate their devices with the school’s network.  The almost constant use of computer devices by today’s college student increases the demand and necessity for immediately available computer repair and computer support.  The computer repair industry seems to expand at a proportionate rate to the computer sales industry.

The market for tablets and ereaders is a growing area of interest also for students.  Digital textbooks could help save students a large amount of money over the course of a degree.  Having one device replace all the textbooks you used to lug around is great, but what if something goes wrong?  Faced with the possibility of being without your textbook, you need access to immediately available computer repair services.  Knowing where fast computer support and computer repair technicians are available 24/7/365 could save your grades.

A different study measured what people would be willing to give up rather than their mobile device.  The addiction of many to their web enabled gadgets is apparent in the results.  Over half the respondents would rather give up alcohol, caffeine or exercise than their device.  One out of five would rather go shoeless than lose their mobile phone.  The list of what some would do without rather than their mobile phone demonstrates the vital need to keep mobile connections strong.  The high priority of mobile connectivity for many will help computer support and computer repair companies maintain their business in a changing landscape.

More and more of the world connects digitally every day.  Computer support and computer repair are key in keeping the streams of virtual data flowing.  Many people rely on their mobile devices for work, play and communication.  All signs agree this is not a fad.  The need for effective computer repair to keep everything working properly remains constant as devices play a larger role in people’s work and social lives.  Make sure reliable computer repair is available for your devices, or you could find yourself cut off from the digital world.

Apple Gives Up Adobe Flash War: Both Companies Win!

The digital video making and viewing community came together a little more, recently.  Apple lifted the ban on Adobe Flash Player appearing in iPhone or iPad, ending online compatibility issues.

Last year, Apple refused to work with Flash, the most popular additional program for creating and viewing multi-media websites. The media creation and viewing program’s use restricted costumers to certain devices. Adobe blocked access to Flash from Apple devices. Apple’s continually expanding mobile devices struggled to view images and videos supported by the additional program.

Cool Product: Xperia Play

A new smartphone will thrill game system customers. Sony Ericsson launched Xperia Play recently, which acts both as a smartphone and as a game playing device. Gamers only need one device to play and talk while away from home.

Xperia Play runs the latest in Android technology, Gingerbread, giving customers the best technology to play games on small devices. Games and other applications perform well using a 1 gigahertz processor and an extra game processor. Images in the games are easy to see, and the colors are bright. The games also respond to control commands better than on most phones.

The most interesting part of the phone is how it physically adapts to allow gaming. The bottom half of the phone slides out for playing games and looks like a PlayStation control. Direction pads, control buttons, and pads in place of thumb sticks let gamers play as if at home. This game controller bottom makes the device bulky compared to other smartphones, but gives gamers a good hold while playing. The need for few devices excuses the larger size, as does the user’s hands not blocking the game view.

Six games come packaged on the phone already. Game titles include PlayStation favorites like Sims, Madden NFL 11 and Crash Bandicoot. The Xperia play does not offer PlayStation games exclusively. Different producers offer 60 titles for the Xperia. Sony Ericsson plans to increase the number to 150 game titles by the end of the year.

The process of getting new games on the phone will take time and some effort. Each game on Xperia Play must configure to fit into the processors used on the phone, so games cannot be transferred from other portable devices. Sony Ericsson assures game developers that existing mobile games can add the necessary support programming for the control pad easily.

Xperia Play also remembers to function as a phone. The actual telephone feature on the Xperia Play is a touchscreen system which behaves like most other Android smartphones. Sony Ericsson offers seven hours worth of talk time, or five hours worth of play time, before the battery needs recharging. Familiar applications like Twitter or Facebook links are still available for gamers who want to share scores.

Verizon Wireless started selling Xperia Play the last week of May for $199.99. Customers who like PlayStation and similar games will enjoy using the Xperia to continue the fun while away from the home game system. Sony Ericsson has added great gaming ability onto the networking capacity of the smartphone.

Cool Product: Wi-Fi Pocket Camera

Cool Product: Wi-Fi Pocket Camera

Personal photography can be wireless without losing picture quality with the Samsung SH 100, a pocket camera that can act like social networking device. The product is designed to mix the best of digital camera features with smartphone abilities. Pictures can now look the best and be shared right away.

Wi-Fi features let users share pictures and videos with friends on Facebook and YouTube directly. Pictures can also be sent to Picasa and other websites, or pictures can be shared by e-mail from the camera. The camera can automatically find a compatible PC and download images, saving images easily. With the Wi-Fi features, users do not have to wait until a vacation is over to share the fun.

The camera has an LCD touch screen control that acts like a smartphone or touch screen computer. The different options on the home menu are arranged like a smartphone screen, making using it familiar, and the home button lets users return to the first screen anytime. Photographers can view, edit and share pictures with just a little tap.

Recognition sensors take pictures when someone smiles or block the picture when someone blinks. The sensors also adjust the light on nine faces at once, creating clearer and cleaner pictures. Blurriness from low light, zooming, or an unsteady hold disappears when the camera sensors change the image path before the picture is saved. The sensors provide bright pictures with everyone clear and looking happy every time.

Some fun features are included on the SH 100. For example, Smart Auto 2.0 which picks central aspects of the picture’s composition and selects the best view from 17 different modes like Portrait, Fireworks or Night. The Magic Frame feature provides a selection of templates to give photo a personal touch. Photographers can personalize pictures without waiting for a computer’s photo editing program.

Samsung’s SH 100 produces quality pictures or videos, and removes extra equipment from the editing, sharing and saving process. The blend of camera and networking device means that the fun can be shared with everyone, and no one has to go home early.

A World of Speculation; Apple’s iPhone 5

Speculation and rumors are flying among techno enthusiasts about the much-anticipated, but highly speculative, release of an iPhone 5 from Apple.  A Chinese supplier of iPhone parts has reportedly leaked just enough information to spark the imagination of anyone following the developing news.

The speculation includes details about the design of Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone.  It has been said that the general look of the iPhone will be similar to the iPhone 4 except for two major differences – screen size and material.  Most sources seem to agree that the new iPhone will have a larger display screen, going with an edge-to-edge screen design.  A 4-inch display would compete well against Android device’s larger displays, yet no official source has pinpointed an exact screen size.

It has also been rumored that Apple will move away from the glass back, opting rather for something similar to the metal back of the first generation iPhone.  The glass back, reportedly, posed a problem for some iPhone 4 users due to scratching of the glass surface.  Reports from China sources have backed up the larger screen and metal back theories, so these design details seem to be likely.

Some less commonly held rumor speculations relate to the antenna for the new phone design.  The iPhone 4 reportedly had antenna problems, so whether the same wrap-around antenna design will be used or not is yet to be seen.

Certainly, the timing of the launch of the new iPhone product has been hotly debated.  Keeping in step with the rhythm Apple has established for its new iPhone releases, many have expected the new model to appear in late June or early July of this year.  Yet evidence is unclear whether or not this will happen.  Apple officially announced the annual Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) will be held June 6-10 in San Francisco.  While there is no official confirmation that the iPhone 5, if that indeed will be the title given by Apple to the new device, will surface at this conference, Apple is known for keeping product unveilings secretive.

We’re also keeping tabs on rumors that indicate Apple’s iPhone 5 will include a dual-core A5 processor as well as enhanced voice control and iOS5.  A multi-core design would improve both battery life and performance.

Other possible features to ponder: Will the new iPhone be offered in white?  Will the iPhone 5 feature Near Field Communication (NFC)?  Will users be able to “wave and pay”?  It looks like we all will just have to wait upon Apple and see.  What do you think?  Login with your thoughts by joining the discussion on our Facebook or Twitter site.  We’d love to talk to you about it!
