RESCUECOM Interviews Ryan Rutan about LaunchRock’s Present and Future

Recently, RESCUECOM posted an article about LaunchRock, a cool product that allows young companies to create simple websites quickly.  These simple websites include functions specifically meant to promote and support product launches.  Since posting the original article, RESCUECOM has had the chance to speak to LaunchRock founding partner and cool person in technology Ryan Rutan about the product in its current form as well as its future.

“As serial entrepreneurs, we’ve all faced the same challenges of validating our concepts and gathering feedback from early users,” said Rutan when asked about the initial motivations for creating LaunchRock. “LaunchRock was a logical outcropping of wanting to solve that need for ourselves.” Rutan went on to mention that he and his partners originally developed the concept for LaunchRock during a Startup Weekend event in Philadelphia.  As entrepreneurs themselves, Rutan and his partners understood the necessity of marketing product launches early. Doing so not only initiates early buzz, but also helps companies obtain feedback that can help them make their products better.

Rutan told RESCUECOM that a very diverse group of companies is making use of LaunchRock.  He informed RESCUECOM that there are LaunchRock pages for “everything from pure idea level startups in the mobile app space wanting to validate their ideas to major brands wanting to do simple landing page copy and design testing without having to commit internal resources.”  The variety of companies utilizing LaunchRock proves that there is a desire for this type of service among entrepreneurs.  Rutan also informed RESCUECOM that LaunchRock’s clientele currently includes both Beachmint.com and HotelsTonight.

RESCUECOM asked Rutan whether companies keep their LaunchRock pages up after a product officially launches.  He said that it largely depends on the individual use case.  “A company that needs to gather their first 1000 signups for an app to test market demand is currently less likely continue using the page than a company that is using LaunchRock pages as landers for various marketing campaigns.”  Regardless of the use case, any company that has troubles setting up or taking down a LaunchRock page likely has hardware or network issues on its end.  For these cases, companies should ensure they have access to business IT support.

Rutan also informed RESCUECOM that LaunchRock had recently started collecting meta level information about supporter acquisitions on company pages.  Rutan said LaunchRock intended to use this data “to develop best practices and channel suggestions for our users.”  Rutan made it clear that none of the information collected was personal data.

As for the future of the product, Rutan told RESCUECOM that a mobile-focused version of LaunchRock is also in development.  The founding partner claimed that catering to mobile was “particularly important” due the many mobile app creators who need launch pages to acquire early supporters.  Anyone who has problems accessing the mobile version of LaunchRock when it comes out could have problems with their mobile hardware that require assistance from a tech support company to resolve.

It is clear that Rutan’s vision for LaunchRock includes significant growth. By advancing into the mobile world, LaunchRock has a chance to gain the attention of many more developers and entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, Rutan and his company are also continually working to improve the current version of LaunchRock so they can cater to their varied customer base.
