Menuism Makes Eating Out Easier

Oftentimes the most useful aspect of technology on the Internet is the ability to combine many features in a way that we could never have done before.  Menuism is an app that does exactly that for food, combining menus, reviews, journals, and social networking in one place.  In fact, its creators have dubbed it the “social network for people who like to eat.”  They advertise Menuism as a place where you can share both where to eat and what to order.  After eating out, you can rate and review the restaurant and the dish you ate as well as sharing pictures, and the key is being able to not only review where you ate but exactly what you ate to give a broader picture than most review sites allow.

Menuism’s developers claim that it has the largest compilation of restaurant menus anywhere on the web.  Any restaurant that has menus posted online is in the app’s database, and it collaborates with similar websites as well as websites that provide listings of food items so that they are included.  There is even a unique user collaboration feature so that if you see something not listed on Menuism that you can find online, you can suggest corrections to have it added.  User contributions can include dishes as well as full menus so that when you rate what they have eaten, the app adds that menu item to the restaurant’s page.  With its basic tech support features, any user can access Menuism from any computer provided they have an Internet connection.

Perhaps the most interesting and helpful aspect of the app is the dining journal which acts as what its creators call an online Rolodex, letting you keep a detailed catalog of your dining interests and particular experiences.  You can write restaurant reviews and rate the dishes you have tried individually, add restaurants you like to your “favorites” list, add ones that interest you to your “try” list, and upload an unlimited number of food photos and menus to have a visual guide for later.  Menuism helps you keep track of your impressions of a restaurant and what you want to order, and it even lets you browse your dining journal either alphabetically or chronologically.  You only need to keep in mind the importance of computer support you can rely on so that an issue with your technology does not prevent you from accessing the app.

When you are planning to eat out, sometimes the most time-consuming aspect is searching for the right food from the right place and, even so, it is not always easy to know if you will like what you order.  Menuism offers a solution to this problem in the most comprehensive way possible while making ordering in the future easier as well.
