Reviewsor Wants to Be the Metacritic of Consumer Electronics

Product reviews have been a staple of the Internet for a very long time, especially since Amazon popularized them as an ecommerce giant over the last decade.  Journalistic product reviews have also increased both in quantity and significance, as different technology blogs and news publications dedicate time and page space to them.  With more people having access to these types of reviews thanks to the Internet, the demand for them also increases.  This situation has led to review aggregator sites like Rotten Tomatoes, which aggregates movie reviews, and Metacritic, which aggregates reviews for forms of media.  Users frequent these review aggregator sites to get a good sense of what the public opinion is on certain media such a  movies, games, and music.  Now there is also a cool product that aggregates reviews of consumer electronics for the tech geeks who keep up with the newest devices.  This product is Reviewsor.

Reviewsor scours the Internet for published reviews on any piece of technology.  Reviewsor links to each individual review from the product page on their site, and averages the score of all reviews to give readers a general idea of how critics have received a device in the media.  This cool product’s model is essentially the same as media review aggregation sites, but the application to the technology industry is new.  Reviewsor’s adaptation of the review aggregator model for technology products makes sense as more and more tech blogs continue to release product reviews on a regular basis.  With Reviewsor, consumers now have an easy source to go to for a general opinion on newly releases products.  Customers using Reviewsor can avoid unreliable electronics that require constant onsite computer repair service just to work properly.

Reviewsor doesn’t only aggregate journalistic product reviews.  The website also allows users to leave reviews for computers, smartphones, tablets, and accessories.  On each product’s profile page, the company lists both the critics’ average review score and the users’ average review score.  Using this method, the website accounts for instances where there is a major discrepancy in user satisfaction and critics’ opinions.  Anyone who has difficulty leaving a review on Reviewsor can get help by acquiring online computer support.

With companies like Metacritic becoming so successful with a similar model, it is difficult to see Reviewsor not gaining traction and increasing its user base steadily as time passes.  This cool product has a lot of potential as a concept.
