Founded by brother and sister Aaron and Adora Cheung in July 2012, Homejoy is located in San Francisco, California. The service is now available in more than 20 cities. Phoenix, Arizona, recently joined the list in June 2013. You can book through the Homejoy website on your computer or mobile device. Find a convenient time for your cleaner to work. If you have to reschedule for any reason, do it through the website. Give your credit card information for billing after the job is completed. Let a professional check your Internet security to make sure your credit card information is safe.
The cost is $20 per hour, which Homejoy says is less than many cleaning services charge. If you are not sure how long your job will take, answer a few quick questions and Homejoy will provide an estimate. Before your cleaner arrives, you will receive a profile and photo of the person. Cleaners bring all the equipment and products they will need, unless you specify otherwise. According to Homejoy, all cleaners are insured.
The Homejoy website explains what cleaners will take care of in each room – bedrooms, common areas, bathrooms, living rooms and kitchens. For example, in the kitchen, it states cleaners will wash dishes and the sink, clean the microwave inside and out, vacuum/mop the floor and take out the trash and items for recycling, among other jobs.
