Echosec Uses Social Media to Keep You Informed

photo echosec-uses-social-media-to-keep-you-informed.pngWhen searching for social media information based around a specific area, the options social networks provide are limited to those specific websites, apps, or services. Echosec is a map-driven search engine that harvests and searches hundreds of social media services for real time posts and media. You can use the service to see breaking news and live updates from areas of conflict of any kind, or simply to see real time posts from your favorite sporting event.  The idea is very self-explanatory; you simply choose the area that interests you by creating a square on the world map, and Echosec will then display the tweets, Facebook posts, and Flickr images, or any other social media mention from that area.  While this is especially useful for obtaining the most relevant news as it happens right from the source, you can choose the period that interests you as well.

Echosec is an extremely useful tool if you need real time content from a particular place, enabling you to get faster breaks on a story.  Requiring system recovery for a computer or other tech device is not an issue for those with multiple devices, but it may be a concern if you are limited to just one.  Essentially, the app merges global mapping with social media feeds to deliver location-based posts and conversations from a variety of platforms.  When you select an area on the map, Echosec populates that map with all the posts people have written or those currently posting. Below the map are the posts themselves, ranging from the mundane to the extreme. Simply surfing social networks would never get the same number of feed views that you can see with simply a click and drag of the mouse.

All of what you can see with Echosec is available to any user in public, completely accessible through a search of any of the apps or websites featured. All of it is available to the app’s map thanks to the location-based services of the mobile device, laptop or computer the user is on.  This may lead to some worry regarding Internet security, but Echosec only posts what users publicly offer for anyone to see.  This has particularly helpful applications for local government, police, military, and national and local security agencies all over the world.  It is a smart alternative to traditional news media, because the news of what is happening in the world will be coming from feeds on the Echosec map much more quickly and accurately than one can typically deal with a breaking story.

Whether through brief posting of written information, photos, videos, and even FourSquare check-ins, Echosec can use any information available for public scrutiny for any number of useful purposes.  Provided people use it responsibly, it offers many positives for people and businesses, ultimately giving people the information they need when they need it to make more informed choices.
